Becoming a Laudato Si’ Community

The Addressing Climate Change Committee will be posting brief reflection resources on each of the Laudato Si’ Action Platform goals. Here is the fifth, presented by Pat Stortz, on Goal 5—Ecological Education: [insert link]. The collection can be found here: Reflections on the Laudato Si’ Goals

Climate Change and Haiti

This past week, while reeling from another devastating Earthquake that left thousands dead, injured, or homeless, the Haitian people were battered by the winds and rains of Tropical Storm Grace. As we hold our Haitian neighbors close in prayer, take time also to learn about Haiti’s vulnerability to climate change and the urgency of taking collective action to limit its debilitating effects; commit to making a personal change to live more sustainably; and advocate for aggressive governmental action toward climate responsibility (United States; Canada). Read the AMSSND statement here. Donate to our partner, Beyond Borders, to assist their Earthquake Relief efforts here.

Immigration

As we pray for our neighbors in Afghanistan during this time of upheaval, take action to urge the Biden Administration to provide urgent humanitarian protections, including evacuation for those who have put their lives on the line for the United States, and expansion and expedited access to the U.S. resettlement program for Afghan refugees.

Racism

We invite you to reflect on Elise D. García, OP’s  Presidential Address at the Leadership Conference of Women Religious 2021 Assembly: Creating Space for the Future: Cutting Deeper Grooves of Transforming Love into Evolution
