On International Migrants Day (Dec. 18) and always, we appreciate the positive and integral role of immigrants in our communities. This “Just Act” celebrates the richness and vitality immigrant people bring to the United States and counters the most common misperceptions about them. The Atlantic-Midwest Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame affirms that “immigrants are vital contributors to U.S. and Canadian society and are entitled to the opportunity to develop their lives and contribute to their nation as they are able;” and always, we remember the words of Jesus: “I was a stranger, and you welcomed me.” We are grateful for the grace of meeting God in new ways as we encounter migrant peoples!
