On September 21, Associates from Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut renewed their covenants during a ceremony in the chapel at Villa Notre Dame in Wilton. In a moving water ritual, the attending Sisters and Associates committed themselves to “being the eyes and hands of Christ.”
The program began Friday evening with a pizza dinner, followed by a lively game of “Wilton Jeopardy” organized by Associate Kathy Sylvester. The following day, Sister Nancy Gilchriest presented both background and updates of the Directional Statement. She challenged those gathered to ask themselves “How does God direct our desire to ‘trust and dare’?” and “How are we called to live our SSND mission in these times?”
Associate Lucy Freeman’s sharing of photographs and reflections of the Heritage Pilgrimage was another highlight of the weekend.
